International Removals to Spain

Spain: An overview

Spain is a popular retirement destination and we regularly undertake moves there. Around 300,000 UK-born people live permanently in Spain and many spend part of the year there. Spain suffered a devastating civil war in the 1930s but in 1975 democracy was re-established, and in 1986 the country joined the European Economic Community, which later became the European Union. Spain’s climate, diverse landscapes, vibrant culture and long history has made the Spanish tourist industry the second-largest in the world. You can rest assured we will assist you at every stage from start to finish of your move to Spain, leaving you to enjoy everything this fascinating country has to offer.

Spanish Customs and quarantine regulations

Spain is a member of the European Union (EU). The UK’s future relationship with the EU has still to be decided, but currently there are few customs and import regulations that apply to moves from the UK. You can take your cat or dog to Spain so long as it has been been vaccinated against rabies within 21 days of moving and is at least three months old. Your Move Manager will oversee your move throughout and will guide you through Spain’s Customs and quarantine regulations as they apply to your individual circumstances.

What should I do with the things I can’t take?

Currently you can import any used household goods and personal effects into Spain provided VAT has been paid on them in the EU. Importing cars and motorcycles can be complicated, there are some items you may not be permitted to import into Spain, and there will probably be others you don’t need to take but would like to keep. The answer is to store them in our secure and well-maintained storage facilities, where you can access them at any time during working hours.

How long will it take to ship my possessions?

Moves to Spain are usually carried out door-to-door using a dedicated removals vehicle. How long the move will take is largely determined by where in Spain you are moving. Your Move Manager will supply a schedule covering the expected transit time for your particular move.
